Use Windows programs to edit files on your Mac (or Linux)

May 2026

You have a file on your Mac. You need to edit it with a program that only runs on Windows. Or you have a project on your Linux workstation and need to open part of it in a Windows-only tool. The usual workflow: copy the file to a USB drive or upload it to cloud storage, download it on the Windows machine, edit it, then copy it back.

With KEIBIDROP, the Mac's files appear as a folder on the Windows machine. You open the file directly in the Windows program. When you save, the changes are visible on the Mac side. No copying back and forth. No USB drive. No cloud.

How it works

Install KEIBIDROP on both machines. Connect them (exchange codes once, then save as contacts for next time). Enable the virtual folder on the Windows side. The Mac's shared files show up in File Explorer as a regular directory.

Open any file in any Windows application. AutoCAD, Visual Studio, Excel, Photoshop, whatever you need. The program reads from the virtual folder. KEIBIDROP streams the file data from the Mac. When you save, the updated file syncs back.

Works in every direction

This is not limited to Mac-to-Windows. Any combination works:

Linux files edited with Windows programs. Windows files opened on a Mac. Mac files browsed from a Linux terminal. The virtual folder works the same regardless of which operating systems are involved. Both sides can share and access files simultaneously.

Real-time edits

The connection is live. If someone edits a file on one side, the other side sees the updated version when they next open it. Both machines can share files at the same time. The sync is bidirectional and happens as files change.

Encrypted and direct

The connection goes directly between the two machines. If they are on the same network, the data stays local. If they are on different networks, the data goes over the internet through an encrypted channel. The encryption is end-to-end and quantum-resistant. No server stores or reads your files.
