Open one file from a 50 GB folder without downloading it all
With KEIBIDROP, the other computer's folder shows up on yours as a normal folder. Open any file in it and only the parts you open come over the internet. Share 50 GB, open a 300 MB video, and about 300 MB moves.
It works with the apps you already use, because to them it's just a folder. Everything is encrypted from one computer to the other, and no copy is kept on a server.
Only what you open moves
Your apps read the file as if it were on your own disk. KEIBIDROP fetches the parts from the other computer when an app asks for them, in pieces of 16 MB, so a small read brings a little extra with it. Save the file to keep a full copy.
Set up the shared folder once
- Connect the two computers in KEIBIDROP, with the steps on the how to use page.
- After the first connection the app asks if you want their files as a folder. Press the button. On a Mac it takes you to macFUSE, on Windows to WinFsp. Install it once and restart the computer once.
- Connect again. The screen says "Shared folder is live". Press Open Folder.
- Their files show up in a normal folder window. Open what you need, in any app.
Your disk keeps only what you opened
On-demand access means you view just what you want, and your disk keeps just that. A laptop with a 256 GB disk can browse a 2 TB folder on a NAS or on another computer, as long as what it opens fits. To keep a file for good, press Save.
Measured on real links
| Test | Result | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Opening a small part in the middle of a 1 GB file | About 16 MB came over, out of 1 GB | Server in Timisoara to a Mac on home Wi-Fi in Bucharest, through our relay, September 2026 |
| Opening 120 photos, 9.5 MB in total | Under 8 seconds, 14 MB came over | Same link |
| Reading a file on the other computer | KEIBIDROP 20 to 30 MB/s, 15 to 23 times faster than sshfs | Servers in Singapore and Timisoara, about 200 ms round trip, 100 MB and 1 GB files, July 2026 |
Singapore and Europe are about as far apart as two computers get on the internet. Closer pairs, such as two cities in Europe, or Germany and the US, have shorter round trips, and there your own upload speed is usually the limit.
Private the whole way
Everything is encrypted from one device to the other, and the encryption is quantum-safe: it's built to hold up even against future quantum computers. On a direct connection the file never touches our servers. When a firewall, a hotel Wi-Fi or a mobile network blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read. Because only the opened parts move, the relay can't even tell how big your folder is: a 50 GB share where someone opens 300 MB looks like 300 MB.
The computer that opens the folder needs a one-time driver: macFUSE on a Mac, WinFsp on Windows. Without it, the other person can still press Play or View on single files in a browser tab.
The computer with the files has to stay on and connected.
