Open your NAS from anywhere without port forwarding
Run the KEIBIDROP container on your NAS, and your laptop opens the NAS folder from anywhere as a normal folder. There's no port forwarding, no VPN and no copy in a cloud. Where the router blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read.
Only the files you open come over, so a laptop with a small disk can work with a NAS full of footage, photos or backups. Files that land on the NAS while you're connected show up on the laptop within a minute.
The NAS shares and the laptop opens
The NAS is on all the time, so it's the side that shares. It runs our container on Docker: Unraid has it in Community Applications, and Synology Container Manager, QNAP Container Station and any Linux host with Docker run the same image. Your laptop runs the KEIBIDROP app and opens the NAS folder in its Teleport Folder.
Set it up once
- On the laptop, open KEIBIDROP and press Copy to copy your code.
- On the NAS, start the container with your laptop's code and the folder to share. The NAS guide has the compose file and the Unraid template.
- The NAS log prints the NAS's own code. On the laptop, turn on Teleport, paste that code and press Connect.
- Press Save contact and turn on Auto for that contact, so the laptop reconnects by itself.
- Open the Teleport Folder. The NAS files are there.
Your apps open the NAS files as they are
Because it's a normal folder, Lightroom Classic adds raws from it in place, Capture One works the same way, and DaVinci Resolve edits footage straight from it. Shots a camera sends to the NAS over FTP, or a card reader copies into the folder, show up on the laptop within a minute.
Measured with a server as the NAS
| Test | Result | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| The box's folder on the laptop | 161 files listed and opened | Server in Timisoara running the container, Mac on home Wi-Fi in Bucharest, through our relay, September 2026 |
| A 1 GB file copied in full | 34 seconds | Same link, free relay tier |
| A small read from the middle of that file | About 16 MB came over | Same link |
| Joining when the box was waiting | Under 1 second | Three tries out of three |
Private the whole way
Everything is encrypted from one device to the other, and the encryption is quantum-safe: it's built to hold up even against future quantum computers. On a direct connection the file never touches our servers. When a firewall, a hotel Wi-Fi or a mobile network blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read. A direct connection never uses relay credit, and through the relay your traffic runs on the free tier until you add credit.
The laptop needs a one-time driver: macFUSE on a Mac, WinFsp on Windows, FUSE on Linux.
One container connects to one computer, the contact it saved. For a second computer, run a second container with its own ports, as the NAS guide explains.
