Send photos and videos without losing quality
Most chat apps shrink photos and videos to save data, so the other person gets a smaller, softer copy. With KEIBIDROP the original file goes from your device to theirs, byte for byte: the same size, the same quality, the same file.
It works from a phone to a computer, between two computers and from a browser tab, with no size limit and no account.
Chat apps send a smaller copy
To keep messages fast, most chat apps compress photos and videos before they send them. Sending as a document keeps the original, but documents have a size limit, and a cloud link keeps the original only after a long upload. A wedding album, a 4K video from your phone or a folder of raw photos needs the original.
| How you send it | What arrives |
|---|---|
| A chat app, as a photo or video | A smaller copy |
| A chat app, as a document | The original, up to the app's size limit |
| A cloud link | The original, after the upload finishes |
| KEIBIDROP | The original, any size, straight from your device |
Send the original from your phone
- Install KEIBIDROP on the phone from F-Droid and on the computer from the install page. Both are free.
- Swap codes once: press Copy on one side, send it to the other in any chat app, press Paste or paste it, and press Add. Do the same the other way.
- Press Connect on both.
- On the phone, tap + Share File and pick the photos and videos. On the computer, press Save All.
Between two computers, drag the files onto the window and the other person presses Save. Someone without the app can join from a browser tab at web.keibidrop.com and press View on a photo or Play on a video before saving it.
Every piece is checked on arrival
The receiving side checks each piece as it arrives, so a changed or broken byte is caught before the file is saved. In two long test runs of 17 hours, 102 files out of 102 arrived byte for byte.
Private the whole way
Everything is encrypted from one device to the other, and the encryption is quantum-safe: it's built to hold up even against future quantum computers. On a direct connection the file never touches our servers. When a firewall, a hotel Wi-Fi or a mobile network blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read.
Both devices need KEIBIDROP open while the files move, or a browser tab on web.keibidrop.com. The phone app is on Android.
