Transfer files from Android to PC without an FTP app
You don't need an FTP server app to get files from an Android phone onto a PC. With KEIBIDROP on both, you connect them once with a code, tap + Share File on the phone, and press Save on the PC. No IP address to type, no port, no cable.
It's encrypted the whole way, on your Wi-Fi or over the internet when the phone is somewhere else. Plain FTP sends the files and the password unencrypted, so anyone on the same Wi-Fi can read them.
Connect the phone and the PC once
- Install KEIBIDROP on the PC from the install page, and on the phone from F-Droid, linked on the same page. Both are free.
- On the phone, press Copy under Your Code and send it to yourself in a chat app you have on both, such as Signal or Telegram, or by email.
- On the PC, paste the phone's code and press Add. Then press Copy on the PC and send its code to the phone the same way.
- On the phone, press Paste and Add.
- Press Connect on both.
Save the phone as a contact on the PC, and next time you connect with one click.
Send the photos and videos
On the phone, tap + Share File and pick what you want to send. The files show up on the PC right away with their names and sizes. Press Save on one file or Save All for everything, and they land in the Saved Files folder. It works the other way too: drag a file onto the PC window and press Save on the phone.
| FTP server app | KEIBIDROP | |
|---|---|---|
| Encryption | None with plain FTP: files and password readable on the network | End to end, quantum-safe |
| Outside your home Wi-Fi | Usually no | Yes, over the internet |
| Setup | Type the phone's IP address and port each time | Exchange codes once |
| Account | None | None |
Private the whole way
Everything is encrypted from one device to the other, and the encryption is quantum-safe: it's built to hold up even against future quantum computers. On a direct connection the file never touches our servers. When a firewall, a hotel Wi-Fi or a mobile network blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read.
Keep KEIBIDROP open on the phone until the files are saved. Some phones pause apps in the background to save battery, and the transfer waits until the app is back on screen.
The phone app is on Android. A computer without the app can join from a browser tab at web.keibidrop.com.
