One local network, or any two networks.
KDE Connect pairs a phone and a computer, or two computers, on one local network: notifications, clipboard, remote input, media control and file sharing. From another network, people put both devices on a VPN first. KEIBIDROP covers the files part, and connects two computers on different networks direct where the networks allow it and through the bridge where they do not, with no VPN. It mounts the other side's folder so you open one file instead of receiving all of them.
| KEIBIDROP | KDE Connect | |

| Same-network discovery | Multicast announcement, one click | Broadcast, accept the pairing on both devices |
| Notifications, clipboard, remote input | No, files only | Yes |
| Browse the other side | Yes, it mounts | The phone's storage from the desktop, over SFTP |
| Open a file without receiving the folder | Yes | Through the SFTP browse |
| Account | None | None |
| Encryption | End to end, X25519 with ML-KEM-1024 | TLS with a certificate per device |

KDE Connect finds devices by broadcast and keeps the pairing, so the two devices must share a network each time they talk. Away from it the usual answer is a VPN. KEIBIDROP starts with the same one-click local step and, when the machines are on different networks, connects direct where the networks allow it, else through the bridge. No port forwarding and no VPN. The order of routes is described in Network paths.
KEIBIDROP moves files and mounts folders. KDE Connect's notifications, clipboard, remote input and media control have no equivalent here, and the two run side by side.
KEIBIDROP mounts the other machine's folder as a folder on yours, and a read pulls only the bytes it touches, so you open the one file you came for instead of receiving a whole directory. It is a real filesystem, so Premiere, Resolve, Blender, grep and git open a path on it the way they open a local one.
On its own it works on one local network; from outside, people connect both devices to a VPN first. KeibiDrop connects two computers across networks with no VPN.
KeibiDrop mounts it, and a read pulls only the bytes it touches. KDE Connect browses a paired phone's storage from the desktop over SFTP.
KeibiDrop has neither. It moves files and mounts folders, and it runs next to KDE Connect.
