Edit Documents in LibreOffice and Word Between Two Computers

One document folder, two machines, normal office software.

Edit shared documents

Open a document from the shared folder, edit, save. The save reaches the other machine in under a second on a normal link. Office formats (.docx, .odt, .xlsx) are compact zip containers, so a save moves little data.

What is tested

LibreOffice is part of KeibiDrop's test battery: document writes and format conversions converge in both directions, including a conversion run on the second machine written back through its own mount. Word and other office suites save with the same replace-the-file pattern the tests cover most heavily.

Working with another person

• Take turns per document. One person edits and saves; the other opens after. This produces clean convergence, nothing extra to manage.
• If you both save the same document at nearly the same moment, the newer save keeps the name, and the other version appears as a conflict file on both machines. No edit is silently lost.
• An open document does not update in place while you look at it; you see the peer's save when you (re)open the file. Word and LibreOffice may warn that a file changed on disk; take the reload.

What this is not

This is file sync, not Google-Docs-style live co-editing. Two cursors in one document at the same moment is a different product category. What KeibiDrop gives you is your own desktop software, your files on both machines without a cloud account, and a guarantee that a save race never destroys a version.
