Access files on your home computer from anywhere
Leave KEIBIDROP running on your home computer, and your laptop opens its folder from anywhere as a normal folder: at work, in a café or in another country. There's no port forwarding, no VPN and no copy in a cloud.
Only the files you open come over, and a file you save into the folder from the road lands on the home computer.
Set it up before you leave
- Install KEIBIDROP on the home computer and on the laptop from the install page, and connect them once with your codes, as on the how to use page.
- On the laptop, press Save contact and turn on Auto, so it reconnects by itself.
- On the laptop, set up the shared folder once. On a Mac the app takes you to macFUSE, on Windows to WinFsp. Install it and restart once.
- Set the home computer to never sleep while it's plugged in, in the Energy settings on a Mac or the Power settings on Windows.
Open the home folder from anywhere
Away from home, open the Teleport Folder on the laptop. The home computer's files are there, and any app opens them: a document, a photo, a video, a project. They come over as you open them, so a 100 GB folder at home doesn't need 100 GB on the laptop.
Measured on real links
| Test | Result | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Opening 120 photos, 9.5 MB in total | Under 8 seconds | Server in Timisoara to a Mac on home Wi-Fi in Bucharest, through our relay, September 2026 |
| Opening a small part of a 1 GB file | About 16 MB came over | Same link |
| Reading a file on the other computer | KEIBIDROP 20 to 30 MB/s, 15 to 23 times faster than sshfs | Servers in Singapore and Timisoara, about 200 ms round trip, July 2026 |
Private the whole way
Everything is encrypted from one device to the other, and the encryption is quantum-safe: it's built to hold up even against future quantum computers. On a direct connection the file never touches our servers. When a firewall, a hotel Wi-Fi or a mobile network blocks a direct connection, our relay passes along encrypted pieces it can't read.
The home computer has to be on and connected. A full copy moves at your home internet's upload speed.
For a box that's always on, put the folder on a NAS instead: see open your NAS from anywhere.
